Spiker

Posted on March 1, 2009 by haloboyy1928 |

General Description: This is the equivalent of the SMG for the Brutes.  It fires a relatively small clip of 40 projectile spikes, which will stick into the opponent for several seconds.  It also has an added bonus for melee attacks.  Hence the giant blades on the front.  It can be dual wielded.

Range: A close to medium range weapon

Good against: players, open vehicles

Bad against: vehicles in general

General Description: A type of laser, which is difficult to use but if used correctly is lethal.  Causes damage by burning skin. Runs out of ammo quickly. Does not appear on any maps by default, and must be forged in.

Range: Not good at close range but extremely good at medium and can be effective at long range

Good against: players in crowds

Bad against:  vehicles

Plasma Rifle

General Description: The plasma rifle is the most common weapon used by the covenant.  It does not use ammunition but can overheat causing it to be unusable for several seconds.  So, use with caution.  Its rapid fire style allows it to take down enemies quickly, as long as they are not in a group.  Though you might want to bring something bigger to a vehicle fight. It can be dual wielded.

Range: relatively inaccurate so good at the medium side of close range

Good against: one enemy

Bad against: multiple enemies or vehicles

Plasma Pistol

General Description: This is the most basic of the Covenant weapons.  You may think it is scrawny and pitiful, and your right.  This weapon packs hardly any punch at all.  It is like a non automatic crappier version of the Plasma rifle.  The one upside of it is that if charged it shoots a blast that can shut down shields or stop vehicles for several seconds, but even this has a downside.  The blasts take a long time to charge, are easy to see, move relatively slowly, and have a long cool down time. In addition, a charge blast cannot kill.  If i could give this a score of lethalness from 1-10 ten being the most lethal I would give it a -2. It can be dual wielded

Range: Most effective at close range for the regular shot and medium range works best for the charged shot.

Good against: Nothing

Bad against: Everything

Plasma Cannon

Posted on March 1, 2009 by haloboyy1928 |

General Description: It can be described no more simply than a kick butt turret.  It is a covenant turret that can be carried or mounted on a stand.  When mounted on a stand it has unlimited ammo and has a 180 degree viewing ability but you must remain stationary.  In halo 3 you have the ability to rip turrets off of their stands and walk around with them and that is exactly what you can do with this, but it will reduce your player speed and jump height. When detached, it has 200 rounds.  This is a very good weapon but not as effective as the machine gun turret. The plasma cannon does not appear on any multiplayer maps by default, and must be forged in.

Range: can be anywhere from long to medium-close range.

Good against: players without long range weapons/ light vehicles

Bad against: heavy vehicles

Needler

Needler

General description: One  clip one death…  If the opponent doesn’t have an over-shield, nail most of a clip from the needler into them and they won’t be bothering you when the shots explode.  The needler is a covenant rapid fire weapon with shots that explode a few seconds after impact.

Range: very good at medium-close range

Good against: players

Bad against: most vehicles
